Thank you for visiting the Secondary School Placement pages on the Fessenden web site! Our school has a long history of sending well-prepared young men of strong character to some of the finest independent schools in the country, as well as the strong local public schools of the greater Boston area.
Preparing students both academically and personally to enter appropriate college-preparatory programs is a major goal of our community. Ultimately, however, the responsibility of the secondary school selection process falls to the students and their families. In our general approach to placement, our office works to enable students to take on this responsibility with direction and confidence.
Secondary schools vary in academic rigor, size, structure, program, and geographic location, as do the educational abilities, talents, and priorities of each Fessenden student and his family. Our goal is to recognize these many variables and work effectively in guiding students and families to school choices that best meet individual needs in the years following Fessenden.
In the spring, we host a secondary school fair on campus that brings representatives from nearly 100 private day and boarding schools to our campus. Additionally, about 40 admission officers visit Fessenden each year, and our staff makes numerous visits to many secondary schools.
We are very proud of the fact that, in the past five years, 100% of our graduates have been admitted to schools on their list. More importantly, we are proud of our students, who consistently represent themselves, and this school, positively as they prepare for the next step in their educational journey.
Whether you are a current or prospective Fessenden family, I welcome you to contact me any time to learn more about secondary school placement.
