Saving the Bluebird

5/2/2012
The North American Bluebird is one of the most beautiful birds you'll ever see, but you won't see it for long if its habitat continues to disappear. One young alumnus is doing something about it.

Will Murphy '12 recognized that one of the most beautiful birds on our continent was in danger. Habitat loss has sharply reduced the North American Bluebird population. Will organized a crew of volunteers to construct several dozen bluebird boxes to attract and protect them. He recently installed fifteen of the boxes on poles around the Fessenden grounds. Keep an eye out for nesting activity! This is Will's final requirement for Eagle, scouting's highest rank.

We had a bluebird nest in one of the bird houses I made for use on our property in Vermont, but unfortunately it didn't returned the following year. They are truly beautiful birds and they obviously need all the help they can possibly get. More power to you Will, and I hope your project attracts some of those gorgeous birds to next on Fessenden property this year and in years to come.

As these comments are somewhat monotonous (not putting them down though), I will shake it up: Hallelujah! Praise God and Will. (Read: Good job, Will!)
