All parents are invited to watch the Field Day games. Please be sure to send your child to school with a water bottle, sunscreen and a baseball cap.
The event will start promptly at 12:30 p.m. with the launch of rockets built by some of our boys. Activities will conclude around 2:10 p.m. after the grade level Tug-of-War competitions and popsicles.
During the LS Field Day, the boys will be “competing” for either their Red or Gray team. Siblings will be put on the same team and legacy boys will be assigned to the same team for which their father or grandfather competed. After the rocket launchings, all boys will run the baton relay races, in teams grouped as Pre-K/K, 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th teams and for their Red or Gray team designation. Following the point tally for the winning teams, students will move among a variety of free choice stations and activities spread out over the fields located adjacent to the smaller swimming pool.
The free choice stations will include events such as the 50 yard dash, speed pitching, obstacle course, etc., and, rather than highlighting an individual’s performance, will monitor the best times, fastest throws, and highest totals as well as which color team has achieved those highest/best marks.
For the latter part of Field Day, the boys will gather together for the annual Tug-of-Wars. Organized by grade level, the Tug-of-Wars tend to draw lots of enthusiasm and cheering from boys and parents alike. The Pre-K boys will tug against the teachers!
Parents are welcome to attend, though please understand that at times it may prove difficult to follow your child/children to each station during the choice period. Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate, safe and fun event for our boys. Most importantly, we look forward to everyone having a great time!
