It is a pleasure to share with you the wonderful news that Abby Buccella, formerly Fessenden’s Interim Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Development, has been appointed as the School’s Director of Institutional Advancement. In this capacity, Abby will assume leadership of the School’s fundraising efforts, as well as parent and alumni relations.
Abby joined Fessenden in 2017 as Director of Development, and she has brought excellence to the School ever since. In this role Abby proved instrumental to the successful completion of the Fessenden360 campaign which raised $30 million over the past five years. In addition, she oversaw the Annual Fund and alumni relations programs. Since January 1, 2019, she also served as Interim Chief Advancement Officer and, as such, has led the School’s full advancement efforts. Thus, while her title is new, her leadership responsibilities remain as they have been these past five months. We are thrilled that she has accepted this important leadership position on a permanent basis, and we know Fessenden will continue to benefit from her dedication, care, and talents.
Prior to Fessenden, Abby enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. At Dana-Farber she served as Director of Principal and Major Gifts, Associate Director of Principal and Major Gifts, and as Assistant Director of Planned Giving. Abby and her husband are the proud parents of two Fessy boys—one current and one incoming—and so Fessenden is a family school for the Buccellas.
Please join me in welcoming Abby to the role of Director of Institutional Advancement, as well as congratulating her on this appointment. She will provide thoughtful and transformational leadership at Fessenden in the years ahead.
