On Wednesday, June 5, the Fessenden Middle School Closing Ceremony was held in front of Bernon Hall under the tent. Head of School Steve Armstrong and Head of Middle School Lulu Kellogg delivered remarks. Sixth graders Levi Harrison and Davis Woolbert served as leaders of the ceremony, and a number of boys from each grade shared what their time at Fessenden has meant to them.
In her closing speech, Lulu thanked the boys for a wonderful year. She also expressed her appreciation for the boys’ parents and friends for their support, as well as to their teachers for “giving [their] all, each and every day, through sun and abundant rain!” In addition, Lulu recognized Middle School parent volunteers for their time and dedication throughout the year. Her parting advice for the boys was based on what she learned from the students themselves. She encouraged them all, when they are going through a hard time, to: take a breath, take a walk, and get a good night’s sleep. Lulu closed by thanking Middle School students, faculty, and staff for many happy memories as she prepares to depart Fessenden.
The ceremony also provided the community with an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of all the boys, as well as a number of student award recipients (listed below). After the conclusion of the ceremony, the boys made their way through the traditional receiving line, led by Assistant Head of School Angela Garcia, shaking hands with each Middle School faculty member.
