Varsity Basketball Pulls Out Tough Win Against St. John's Prep
The Varsity Basketball team returned to action for the first time after the winter break with a small roster of available players and gutted out a hard fought victory over a tough squad from St John's Prep by the score of 46-32. The Bears got off to a slow start down 8-2 to start the game, but fought back to tie the game at 20-20 at halftime. The teams traded the lead back and forth for much of the second half but Fessy went on a 10-2 run with 8 minutes to go and were able to get a couple of key defensive stops down the stretch that secured the victory in the end. Alex A. ran the point (had to play the whole game with a short bench) and had an all around gritty performance. He finished with a team high 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Ikenna O. chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds while Borja H. battled hard on the glass for 15 rebounds and 8 points. Kayden H. came off the bench to give us a big lift of energy with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
The Varsity will be back in action on Friday at home versus rival Belmont Hill.
