On a beautiful spring day, Fessy took to the courts against our perennial rival Fay School. Fessy went into this match knowing that the level of competition would be higher compared to our earlier matches and our boys were excited for the challenge. Playing six singles and three doubles matches, Fessy boys were also energized by this being our first home match of the season. The tone was different right from the beginning with Fessy and Fay exchanging shots from the baseline with long rallies on every court. Boys worked on maintaining the baseline and playing aggressively against opponents who played strong top-spin tennis. While Fessy came out on top in five of the six singles matches, the scores do not truly show how close the matches were. Many games went to deuce and Fessy kept the pressure on throughout the match. Our doubles teams played exceptionally well together and took advantage of short balls and closed as a team.
We'd like to congratulate Fay on a wonderful match and look forward to playing them again soon! They are strong tennis players but more importantly they were incredibly polite and kind young men.
