On a windy spring afternoon, Fessy went up against Roxbury Latin in what we knew would be one of the toughest matches of the year. Our boys were excited to go up against high school players. After a few "oohs" and "ahhhs" marveling at the height of some of our opponents, our boys took to the court. Andre Zhao played one of his best matches of the year. He controlled the match from the beginning and maintained his focus throughout. Rohan Rao went back with his opponent. Utilizing his trademark slice and spin, Rohan split sets with his opponent. Peter Ding played some of his best tennis of the year with a very talented opponent and showed not just grit but also exceptional sportsmanship. Tiger Yu got his first chance to play in the singles line-up and he took advantage of it! While Tiger fell 6-2 in the first set, I was quite proud of the way he fought back and worked hard in the second set. In the first doubles match, Charlie and Joe fought hard against their opponent and came exceptionally close in both sets. Finally, Jero and Charles took the first set against a very tall doubles team! While they fell in the second, Jero and Charles were quite proud of their efforts--as they should be!
As a coach, I was incredibly proud of our team's effort and sportsmanship. We look forward to getting back to work next and getting better each day.
