It was a beautiful day for tennis on Saturday as the Bears traveled quite a ways to play perennial rivals Eaglebrook.
Fessy took on Eaglebrook in a somewhat untraditional format, playing 8 singles and 4 doubles, giving all the boys who traveled an opportunity to play in each match. Starting with the doubles, each team secured points, with the 4th doubles team of Charlie J. and Tiger Y. just losing a nail-biter of a match in a tiebreaker. As the singles took to the courts, Andre Z. and Tony W. came out with strong early wins at the number 1 and 2 spots. Charles L. and Jero dlB. also secured relatively easy wins at seven and eight singles. Eaglebrook won the remaining single matches, though Peter D. and Charlie J. kept things very close, only falling short by a few games. Daniel D. kept it even closer, only losing in a tiebreaker 7-8 (4-7). In the end, the match score was tied 6-6, but as we had previously established that a tiebreaker would be determined by total games won, Fessy came out on top 80-68! All in all, we couldn't have asked for better competition or sportsmanship, and it was a great day for Fessy tennis. We look forward to seeing some of the same players again this weekend as we host the Junior Schools Singles Tournament here at Fessenden!
