Fessenden’s Pre-Kindergarten program works with boys’ natural enthusiasm, channeling it toward a love of learning. We start by preparing a child for Kindergarten through a developmentally appropriate curriculum full of imaginative and creative play, physical exercise, and self-expression. We recognize the importance of social and emotional development at this age, while we help boys begin to build a strong academic foundation. Lessons and activities are intended to foster patience, gratitude, and friendship in a supportive classroom community.
The typical Pre-K day begins with playground time and morning meeting, where we settle in with a song and focus on having a positive day. Boys then transition to classroom activities that mix literacy, mathematics, technology, and physical movement with a healthy mix of play. Throughout the day, we build in ample time for rest, snacks and lunch, and recess.
Pre-K Program Options
We offer three Pre-K options, allowing families to choose a pace that is appropriate for their sons. All include the core Pre-K curriculum (language arts, math, science, and social studies) and a balance of specials, including Spanish, physical education, music, art, and library. Please note, students starting Pre-Kindergarten should be four years old by September 1 of the entering year.
