Parent Giving at The Fessenden School
Parents have a time-honored tradition of philanthropic support at Fessenden. In the past year, parent gifts accounted for $1,938,313 of the $2.4 million for the Annual Fund. Gifts to the Annual Fund provided resources to enhance curricular programs, purchase classroom equipment, and fund the most pressing needs of the School.
The 2023-24 Annual Fund supports many initiatives including, but not limited to:
Competitive and compelling faculty salaries and benefits
New Dell Chromebooks with flip touch screens for 8th and 9th Graders
Basketballs, soccer equipment, and jump ropes for Lower School PE Program
Increased financial aid assistance
Field study trips to Camp Burgess and Washington, D.C.
New video cameras for Digital Media Filmmaking course
Partnership with parents, especially with Fessenden’s fundraising efforts, is an integral part of ensuring all students’ success. To educate our community on the importance of giving to the Annual Fund, we rely on 25 parent volunteers, led by Co-Chairs Adam Abramson P ’23, ’26, Kirsten Hughes P ’28, ’30, and Tad and Melissa Yanagi P ’27, ’29, ’31. Collectively, this team of volunteers helped achieve an 84% giving rate among Fessenden parents last year.
